In case of using a live experimental animal; the author(s) should clarify in the methodology that adequate measures were taken to minimize pain or discomfort. Experiments should be carried out in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the International Animal Ethics Committee and in accordance with local laws and regulations.

A statement of ethical committee approval should be included in the methodology. Failure of the authors to provide a concern for animal ethical matter is one of the causes of paper rejection.
